Ring Pull Up

A compound movement that trains your lats. Your biceps, middle back and shoulders help out.

How to do it

  1. Hang from gymnastic rings with a neutral grip (palms facing each other), arms fully extended, and feet off the ground. Your body should be in a straight line or with a slight arch.
  2. Engage your core and scapulae (shoulder blades) by pulling them down and back.
  3. Initiate the pull by driving your elbows down towards your hips, pulling your chest towards the rings. Try to touch your chest to the rings.
  4. Continue pulling until your chin is above the level of your hands, or your chest touches the rings. Focus on squeezing your lats at the top.
  5. Slowly and with control, lower your body back to the starting position, extending your arms fully. Avoid simply dropping down.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
