How to do it

  1. Lie flat on your back on the floor, placing your hands flat on the floor beside you or tucked slightly under your glutes for lower back support. Keep your legs extended straight out.
  2. Exhale as you slowly lift your knees towards your chest, bending them as they come up. Your feet should lift off the floor as your knees approach your chest.
  3. Continue to raise your knees until they are directly above your hips, or as far as comfortable while maintaining control and keeping your lower back pressed into the floor.
  4. Hold the contraction briefly, squeezing your abdominal muscles.
  5. Inhale as you slowly lower your legs back to the starting position, extending them fully without letting your feet touch the floor if possible, to maintain tension in the abs.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
