How to do it

  1. Lie on your side on the floor or a mat, with your bottom arm extended overhead or bent to support your head. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels.
  2. Stack your hips and knees, keeping your top leg directly on top of your bottom leg.
  3. Slowly lift your top leg straight up towards the ceiling, keeping it straight and avoiding rocking your torso.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, squeezing your outer thigh and glute.
  5. Slowly lower your leg back down to the starting position in a controlled manner.
  6. Complete the desired number of repetitions on one side before switching to the other side.
