How to do it

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and one leg slightly lifted off the ground in front of you.
  2. Hold onto a sturdy object for support with one or both hands (e.g., a pole, door frame, TRX handles, or a resistance band attached overhead).
  3. Keeping your back straight and chest up, slowly lower your body down on one leg as if sitting in a chair, allowing the non-standing leg to extend forward.
  4. Use the assistance object as needed to maintain balance and control the descent, aiming for your hip crease to go below your knee, or as deep as your flexibility allows.
  5. Once you reach the bottom, push through the heel of your standing foot to return to the starting position, using the assistance to help you up as needed.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions before switching legs.
