How to do it

  1. Set up a barbell in a power rack at a height slightly below your shoulders.
  2. Approach the bar and unrack it by placing it across your upper back and traps. Your feet should be much wider than shoulder-width apart, with your toes pointed significantly outwards (45-60 degrees).
  3. Take a deep breath, brace your core, and initiate the descent by pushing your hips back and bending your knees, keeping your chest up and back straight.
  4. Lower yourself until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor, or slightly below, ensuring your knees track in the same direction as your toes.
  5. Drive through your heels and the outer edges of your feet, pushing through your glutes and quads to return to the starting position.
  6. Exhale at the top. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
