How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent.
  2. If using poles, hold one in each hand.
  3. For general fitness, simulate a gliding motion by shifting your weight from one foot to the other, bending your knees and hips, as if sliding on skis.
  4. Push off with one leg while extending the other forward, then alternate smoothly.
  5. If using poles, push them into the ground simultaneously with the opposite leg's forward motion for added upper body engagement.
  6. Maintain a low, athletic stance and a continuous, rhythmic movement to engage major muscle groups and elevate heart rate.
