How to do it

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with your arms relaxed at your sides.
  2. Engage your core, keep your chest up, and look straight ahead.
  3. Step your right foot back and diagonally behind your left leg, as if you're performing a curtsy.
  4. Lower your hips by bending both knees until your front thigh (left leg) is parallel to the floor, or as deep as comfortable, ensuring your front knee tracks over your toes and your torso remains upright.
  5. Push through the heel of your front foot to powerfully return to the starting position, bringing your right foot back next to your left.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions on one side before switching to the other leg, or alternate sides.
